Natural Hair and Chlorine

I am starting swimming classes next week hopefully and I read somewhere that it would be wise to use an anti chlorine shampoo to get the chemicals out after, rather than just wash with my regular shampoo. Would the neutralising shampoo you use after a relaxer work just as well? I think I read this somewhere but thought I'd ask. Any advice on the topic would be great! Thanks

I used to swim when I was little and had natural hair....I just used to wash it out with regular shampoo after when I got home. Mommy always said to wash it out or it would bleach out your hair or something lol

I don't know what it actually does..never left it in there long enough..But i hope my answer was any help..

I went on vacation to Jamaica and I was in that pool everyday lol! I just used my sulfate free shampoo to wash my hair and it was fine. If I could do things a little differently though, I would have done an ACV rinse because that clarifies your hair and gets rid of the chlorine. I like ACV rinses better than a regular shampoo because it's more gentle on my hair. I think if you wet your hair before you go to the pool and put some conditioner in it, I think that should also help keep the protected. Good luck!

ORS ALoe Shampoo will get rid of chlorine in your hair. Additionally adding conditioner to your hair before swimming helps to slow down the effects of chlorine.

^^ What she said about keeping the hair protected. It's something I always neglect to do, and I'm also slow about washing out the chlorine afterward. Washing with a normal shampoo or simply co-washing after swimming should be enough to rid your hair of any lingering chlorine. (Thanks ladies of NP)
