Shampoo/Conditioner?
Hi fellow NPers,
I have been locked for a month and a half, and I absolutely love it!! Right now I see a loctitian for washing and maintenance every few weeks. I go to the Taliah Waajid Natural Hair Care Center, so they use her products there. However, I am going to be strting DIY in the future, and her shampoo contains Sodium Lauryl Sulfate along with other ingredients I avoid. I want to try a different shampoo (preferably natural and not too expensive) for when I start to DIY. Any suggestions? I have heard good things about Dr. Bronner's, but I would prefer not to have to play around with diluting and risk stripping my hair. Are sulfates so bad that I should not use a shampoo with it in my hair?
Also, do you use conditioner on your locs? If so, which one and how often? I am trying to figure out whether to use it and/or how often. I'm afraid of build up.
I don't want to have to use a bunch of different products. If you clarify or do other treatments, please include them! In my ideal situation, I'd use a shampoo, conditioner (maybe), oil, and gel.
Thanks in advance!! (I know I wrote a bunch on here, sorry!)

Hi you may want to look at the commercial products forum, but I see that a lot of people use Suave Clarifying. I personally use Dr. Bronners and I don't dilute it. I am not sure why some people dilute it.

I use Kinky Curly shampoo....no conditioner needed because the products I use are super uber conditioning. Everyday I spritz a coctail of Wen Hair Oils mixed with avocado and jojoba oil.

I just switched to black soap the other day (the liquid form) to use as my shampoo and i'm also trying a hair lotion (leave-in conditioner). Both products are from the Alaffia line (all natural and free-trade). I also bought 100% Vegetable Glycerine which I plan to dilute with water and spritz on my hair for added moisture. I may use it most mornings or just as needed.
