Random Thoughts for Writers
So I finally entered a poetry contest...I'd love it if I won, but if not, oh well. I'm just glad I tried.
Looking over a fellow writer's novel and I love it! Now I gotta go through it again for the grammatical stuff.
Maybe I will return to my novel one day and finish it...but all I feel like writing now is nonfiction.Loc Updates! http://public.fotki.com/cher79/locs-part-2/
Last chemical fire cream November 2002. I transitioned and clipped the remaining p.ermed ends in April 2004.
Locs taken down and restarted. Twists put in 4/5/09.

Hey! My kind of thread.
Yes, this. A thousand times. It's really hilarious that while I'm at work all I can think about is how much I'd rather be writing and then, when I get home, I do any and everything else. Wait, does commenting in the forums count?
I really need to set a schedule for myself.
BTW, NappyNelle, I love your siggy.

I'm working on a screenplay and poetry. I plan to submit stuff to literary magazines this year. I've also been applying for various writing jobs. Haven't heard anything back yet. I'm starting to get super impatient.
@nickib, how is your business? Do you get a lot of customers from it?

I know I'm good writer but I'm a perfectionist and too hard on myself. And I come up with really cool and original plots/storylines, but I can never add any meat to the story and develop my characters. If I gain more confidence then these issues probably wouldn't be a problem. It's frustrating and its the reason why I've never written beyond 3 pages. Gotta get it together.

@ starlight: My business is still in its infancy. I only started planning it on Jan 1. I was picking up momentum until life reminded me that I need to pass my classes :/ But still I have some concrete plans in place and by April 15th will be able to launch the business properly.

For those of you who aren't writing: How many of you are in writing groups? If you live in a city of any kind of size (and it doesn't even have to be a big city), look into finding a writing group. If you have friends who want to write, consider starting a writing group. It REALLY helps to be in a community of like-minded people who are all focusing on the same general goal. My friend and I ran a black women's writing group in Chicago in the mid-90s following the blueprint in this book. It was really helpful for everyone involved.
My writing group consists of four people (including myself) but we're all either writing or revising novels, and we're all holding each other accountable. And with that...I'm going to get back to work (writing)...!Hello, 2021. Glad to see you. Hope you're bringing us goodness and light this year!
