Hey everybody! I was talking with my friend who has gone natural recently and she was telling me about how we should use shampoo that has no sulfate in it. I guess the sulfate drys out the hair. I was wondering if any of you guys knew of some good sulfate free shampoo? lol all i have in my house is shampoo with sulfate in it. thanx!!

Has that shampoo been working for you? If so why change it just because? Some people are anti-cones, anti-mineral oil,etc but the reality is that like every thing else it's different strokes for different folks.

Ok thanks. I've been using this olive oil shampoo that i used to use when I permed my hair with the olive oil products. I guess i thought it would be better to use sulfate free shampoo, but i've had no problems with the olive oil shampoo.

I use different sulfate free shampoos depending upon which ones are on sale at the moment. I use Organix and Renpure. Loreal has a sulfate free line of shampoos. They can be found at Walgreens, Walmart, Target and some grocery stores. The range in price from $5.00 - $8.00. I try to catch them on sale when they have a 2 for 1. I can never catch Loreal on sale, so I've never tried it. HTH.

I tried sulfate-free and it was a huge difference for me. But I'm someone who has a lot of issues with dryness. Like was said before, if it's working for you, then that's what's up.
If you use products with certain 'cones in them (like silicone), apparently, you can get buildup and it takes shampoo with sulfates to get the heavier ones out."I wore twists outside for the first time and the world didn't explode. Hurray." - JaeFuma

Jane Carter Solution makes a sulfate-free shampoo. So do some of the natural/organic lines such as Oyin. Also, you could try a shampoo bar. Meraki is right though, if you use a conditioner or styling product with silicones you will need a shampoo with sulfates to remove the buildup of cones.

Also Kinky-Curly makes a sulfate free shampoo. Both it and the Jane Carter Solution shampoos are available at Target and Whole Foods.
