    Most of us have extreme shrinkage.

    Braiding, twisting, or banding are all useful methods for stretching out your hair. Also, the type of products that you use can sometimes influence the amount of shrinkage that you experience.

    OP: For volume and less shrinkage, try avoiding gel and using LIGHTER products, as well as a t-shirt or beach towel (don't knock 'em--they're SUPER absorbent) to absorb most of the water BEFORE applying your products. Damp hair will shrink LESS than sopping wet hair and will air-dry FASTER.
