So sorry you (and your hair) going through this, Dee! I can't imagine having to try to manage my hair with one hand - let alone doing all the work with no tools other than the fingers of that one hand.
Hang in there! Still sending up prayers for a speedy recovery - yours and your hair's!

Dee, I kinda know how you feel. I broke my hand in 2011 and went natural shortly afterwards. I had to undo kinky twists (that I'd had in FAR too long) with one free hand and a thumb. It was interesting. It took me about a week to do it all (while hiding the undone parts in creative ways), but I got it done. I hope you get the hang of one-handed hair care!

,,,@DEE I got both arms and said bump it. Locked up again . Sisterlocks installed last weekend. I won the battle of the combs in my house. Yey! lol! I dont know how you are doing it, but if I were near you in Aussie, I'd pull out my combs and brushes and lock you up-it would be perfect for you right now!

Been away for a minute, but I'm back, Pank and in for this challenage.
Combs hurt so I don't use them. Tried locking but it didn't work out so it is back to finger detangling.
Thanks for setting this up.True love begins with loving what you see in your mirror-Chanelle

Aww Dee!
I know it was difficult. Still probably is...at that point I would probably had someone do my extensions or cut all my hair off. I am not all that patient. Since I have been doing this challenge for about a month or so I have notice less breakage and when I see hair in my hands it is more of my shed hair . I do not know why I didn't do this a long time ago could of save my Lola. Oh well it is a learning experience. to make it easier to finger de-tangle I tried oil rinsing a bit and it helps oh yea. Gotta love this hair of mine... Now that I can start to use my hand in the shower, it took 3 sessions to pull all the shed hair out and I had no coil def after it, instead a big afro (that was OK but I want my chunky coils back) ---- I can't get my Tigi mouse anywhere locally so I tried using some Schwarzkopf Curl mousse... BIG MISTAKE. I ended up with so many dense tangles it took 2 sessions to get that mess out.
Soooo, now - even conditioner is a no-no. Makes my hair too soft and fluffy and my coils don't hold their shape. Until I can get my hands on my mousse again It's wash once a month, rinse every other day (depending on what I'm up to) and aloe gel. I may even twist up (without combing) and see how that works out."The truth is, your natural hair, in all its texture, is the hair that is ideal for YOU.."

Can I still join the challenge?
I've been comb free for about a month now. I still used a soft brush on my edges only, but I think I'll quit that for this challenge. I had just bought a brand new Denman knockoff, but that'll have to wait too. lol.
Finger detangling after I take down my twists and so far losing WAY less hair than trying to detangle with a comb in the shower. And my drains thank me.

Welcome Phia! There are ups and downs with no-combing but the ups really outweigh the downs.
