Re: What's the biggest natural hair "rule" the you break?
I stopped believing in rules some time ago. Whatever works for you and your hair is good enough. Also, what may be a NEVER to one person may be an ALWAYS to someone else.
My hair is 4b/4c/4a in that order and I wet-style pretty much exclusively. I prefer to call it "wet-styling" as opposed to "WNG" because currently my hair's too long and my shrinkage is too extreme to just wash and go. I prefer to stretch the top out via Sprangz (air-drying) and/or tension blow drying.
Judging from some of the reactions I've gotten over the years, I'd say I've broken a couple of rules with this. Funny though how a year from now my stretched hair will be SL and some of these same folks will be like...how'd you do that?Hello, 2021. Glad to see you. Hope you're bringing us goodness and light this year!

I don't wash my hair that often so it doesn't get too frizzy...

Re: What's the biggest natural hair "rule" the you break?
Using a beach towel to soak up excess water. It cuts down my drying time.

Re: What's the biggest natural hair "rule" the you break?
I don't adhere to any rules and I don't have a steady routine. I pretty much wing it everytime.
Sometimes, I feel discriminated against, but it does not make me angry.
It merely astonishes me.
How can any deny themselves the pleasure of my company?
It's beyond me.

Re: What's the biggest natural hair "rule" the you break?
For about six years I broke my own hair rule of never wearing a puff and certainly never wearing a puff without twisting it up at night. Shoot, I just said the heck away with it and combed and popped my ends off for years. Although I lost a lot of length, it settled in around 10 to 11 inches instead of 18+ inches. Still a good length. I also know that the health of my hair had to be shot to hell. But y'all know what, the look of natural hair is so deceiving. My ends might have been all chewed up, but the puff deguised all that damage and that certainly wasn NEVER true when I was a permie.

Re: What's the biggest natural hair "rule" the you break?
I remember those permed damaged hair days. My hair was so mistreated and shining for all to see. When I didn't get a touch up regularly the permed areas would always break off. My natural hair was like "Nuh uh, get up off me!!"
Sometimes, I feel discriminated against, but it does not make me angry.
It merely astonishes me.

Re: What's the biggest natural hair "rule" the you break?
I admit I have used a fine tooth comb. BUT was in extreme detangle mode and parting. Still the guilt was too much.

Re: What's the biggest natural hair "rule" the you break?
Now that I'm 10+ years out, I'm finding that my hair is happier when I just braid it and wear a scarf. My fine hair doesn't like being loose for long, so this summer this is what I'm doing. I'll only wear my hair out for special occasions.
