Baobab Oil

Written by

Baobab oil is a great oil to use in intensive hair repair treatments and conditioners. It warms well and penetrates deeply.

The Baobab is the largest succulent species in the world and can often have a trunk diameter of 20m or more. The tree has been knows to live for 3000 years! The Baobab fruit is used to make a refreshing drink and is high in Vitamin C. The nuts are roasted and eaten and are highly nutritious. It is truly a plant of the gods.

Baobab oil has a balanced breakdown of saturated, mono-unsaturated and poly-unsaturated fatty acids with around 30% omega-6 and 3% omega-3. It has a significant unsaponifiable portion and has been shown to be a strong anti-oxidant and to reduce DNA damage in cells. The oil also contains vitamins A, D3 and E. Vitamin A in combination with the essential fatty acids aids in the rejuvenation and renewal of cell membranes.

Baobab oil is a great oil to use in intensive hair repair treatments and conditioners. It warms well and penetrates deeply into tha hair shaft and is valuable in leave-ins and styling oils. Blended with shea whips it can repair and condition at the same time and helps keep the hair conditioned in dry environments. It helps to keep the scalp conditioned and fight dry scalp condtions.

It benefits the skin in much the same way as it benefits hair. One of th best things about Baobab oil is that it is suitable for use in products intended for sensitive skin as it is a low irritant and non-comedogenic. Baobab oil absorbs quickly and leaves no greasy or oily feel or film on the skin. It is soothing and highly moisturizing.
